Do you have a sewing machine and don’t know what to do with it?
Spring is on its way, so here’s a super-simple guide on how to sew a lovely summer scarf from some recycled fabric: Why not try using an old tablecloth, an old sheet or perhaps a curtain? Of course, you can also buy a piece of fabric.
The instructions are for beginners, and all you need to know is how to thread your sewing machine, how to sew a straight stitch and how to use an iron.
Simple summer scarf:

1. Tear or cut out your fabric: Measure approximately 50 cm for the short side and 150 cm for the long side. We have used a thin cotton fabric.

2. Iron the piece of fabric and fold in about 5 mm along one of the long sides.

3. Vik in ett varv till, stryk och pressa igen och nåla fast invikningen.

4. Thread your sewing machine and set it to a straight stitch.
5. Sew a straight stitch along the entire long side, removing the pins as you go, and backstitch at the start and end.

6. Repeat steps 2–5 on the other long side.
7. The fabric we’ve used has a selvedge, so we’ve decided to keep it, but you may need to repeat steps 2–5 on the short sides as well.

8. Enjoy your new summer scarf!
