En enkel sommarscarf, nybörjarsömnad

A simple summer scarf, beginner sewing

Do you have a sewing machine and don't know what to do with it?

Spring is coming and here is a super simple description of how you can sew a lovely summer scarf from recycled fabric: Try, for example, an old tablecloth, an old sheet or maybe a curtain? Of course, you can also buy a piece of fabric.

The description is at a beginner level and all you need to know is how to thread your sewing machine, how to sew a straight stitch and how to use an iron.

Summer scarf:

1. Tear or cut out your fabric: Measure about 50 cm short side and 150 cm long side. We have used a thin cotton fabric.

2. Iron the piece of fabric and fold in about 5 mm along one long side.

3. Fold in one more turn, iron and press again and pin the fold.

4. Thread your sewing machine and set it to straight stitch.

5. Sew a straight stitch along the entire long side, removing the needles as you go, backing off at the beginning and at the end.

6. Repeat steps 2-5 on the other long side.

7. The fabric we used has a selvage edge so we choose to save it, but you may need to repeat steps 2-5 on the short sides as well.

8. Enjoy your new summer scarf!
